I didn’t hit my books read goal
Or finish any weaving
I didn’t do my steps most days
Or hit my target sleeping

I haven’t done the cleaning up
Or found the missing key
I haven’t practiced learning French
Or walked beside the sea

I couldn’t bake the gingerbread 
Or decorate with lollies
I couldn’t wake for midnight cheer
Or any New Years follies

I wouldn’t say the last year’s been
A favourite one of mine
I wouldn’t say it’s been the worst
But please, this year, be kind?
