Good things

It was a little scary how much of this I ate before thinking “Hmmm, that might be enough.” I blame @The_Ausmerican On Monday afternoon Caitlin arrived home with these They’re from the lovely Juliette who I know through the kids’ school and who occasionally comments here, she decided to spoil me with real flowers instead of virtual ones after reading my recent posts. Thank you so very much Juliette, they made my day and I’ve been enjoying sitting here on the lounge with that gorgeous display visible over the top of my laptop screen all week ๐Ÿ™‚ Almost all the … Continue reading Good things

Friday Fragments and Linkfest No. 14

Hosted by Mrs4444. I’ve less of my own fragments and more of the linkfest stuff to share this week. Don’t forget to pop on over to Half-Past Kissin’ Time when you’re done here and check out all the other Fragmented Friday-ers! **** After watching all three extended version Lord Of The Rings movies this week David came to me at bedtime tonight and asked “Where’s The Hobbit?” Amazingly enough I actually knew where one of our copies was. A few minutes later I could hear him giggling to himself as he read. To appreciate the true significance of this it’s … Continue reading Friday Fragments and Linkfest No. 14

Making plans

No resolutions, no grand plans for the year, no lists of things to accomplish. Just the intention to plan ahead a little bit at a time and try not to let things get too overwhelming. By the end of last year I was really not doing too well, I had made too many commitments and left myself stretched way too thin. I kept thinking it should be ok, I wasn’t really short of time and other people were managing to do as much and more without crumbling into a heap. But I’m not other people, I’m me and I have … Continue reading Making plans

An afternoon at the beach

This afternoon, just after lunch, Adam decided to bake bread rolls. I do like that he’s impulsive sometimes but it would be nice if he didn’t so frequently decide that he can do something in x minutes when in actual fact it is going to take x minutes + 1 hour. Anyway, Tom had a great time helping to make the rolls so it was totally worth it! The bread rolls came with us to the beach, filling the car with the scent of freshly baked bread for the 40 minute drive. I completely failed to take a photo of … Continue reading An afternoon at the beach

Pictorial fragments from the past week

Hosted by Mrs4444. This week’s Friday Fragments has, very conveniently, been put off till Saturday which means I didn’t have to be incredibly rude and spend part of Christmas Day hiding away behind the laptop in order to participate. Of course just because I didn’t have to have net time yesterday doesn’t mean I stayed completely away…. I’m so addicted. Head on over to Half-Past Kissin’ Time for more fragments from the festive season. **** Our camping trip to Fingal Bay last weekend kicked off to a great start with us stuck in a traffic jam on the freeway, we … Continue reading Pictorial fragments from the past week

Friday Fragments and Linkfest No. 13

Hosted by Mrs4444. I won’t be around to comment on everyone else’s Friday Fragments till early next week, we’re off camping at the beach for the weekend – wish us good weather and kid-friendly surf! **** Monday morning’s car trip to school conversation went like this – Tom: Mum, how old do you have to be to mumble mumble mumble? Me: I can’t understand what you’re asking. Tom: *repeats* Me: It’s like you’re speaking a foreign language! Tom: How old do you have to be to have sex? Me: *enlightenment dawns, he was spelling S-E-X and I just wasn’t parsing … Continue reading Friday Fragments and Linkfest No. 13

Chorizo and smoked chicken risotto

I’ve been meaning to make a risotto that involved chorizo for quite some time so when Adam announced this morning that he’d really like risotto for dinner I decided tonight would be the night. Not having a recipe that quite hit the mark I decided to experiment and wandered about Woolworths popping anything that seemed like a good idea into my trolley. As I began cooking tonight, Tom asked my Mum if she was staying for dinner – she’d been helping out with the kids’ homework as she often does on a Monday afternoon, because she is made of all … Continue reading Chorizo and smoked chicken risotto

My ultimate meal plan?

I’ve written many meal plans over the years and when I have one we invariably eat better and buy much less takeaway than in the weeks without plans. There’s something about the never-ending decision making of “what are we having for dinner?” that really gets to me, I’d like someone else to choose! So I try and do all the deciding in one go and get all the shopping done and then not have to think about it for a while. Problem is I kept getting caught up in trying to do New and Different and Interesting all the time … Continue reading My ultimate meal plan?

Twitterable recipes

In a moment of silliness last night I challenged my fellow Twits to produce recipes that could be squished in to 140 characters (well, 133 actually, given that we’re hash-tagging them #recipe). So far we have:From me: mimbles: Wrap pork fillet w/ proscuitto, put on bed of sliced red apple & onion, drizzle w/ olive oil, season with black pepper & sage, bake #recipe 7 minutes ago from TweetDeck ยท Reply ยท View Tweet mimbles: Brown 500g mince , 1 onion chopped + garlic – lots; add 800g tinned tomatoes, basil & oregano, 40g tomato paste, serve w/ pasta #recipe … Continue reading Twitterable recipes
