Friday Fragments

Hosted by Mrs4444. Time for the end of week mental declutter that is Friday Fragments. Let’s see what’s floating about in here shall we? **** I did my 6th Kiva loan this week, which apparently makes me an average Kiva lender. Must do better. I’m going to stop buying Macca’s coffee on work mornings and instead do a Kiva loan each month. There’s a perfectly good coffee machine at work anyway. **** The church notice board that I was venting about on Thursday last week has gone from offensive to merely bemusing. It now reads “Without God the world is … Continue reading Friday Fragments

Fun with sex ed

Caitlin has been invited to an Interrelate seminar at the school titled “Preparing for Puberty” during which I gather we will sit in the hall with other Year 5 and 6 kids and pretend we aren’t there to talk about vaginas and penises. Actually, I’m sure it’ll be great, and I’m totally going to make sure that the discussion of menstruation includes mention of menstrual cups, cloth pads and sponges and not just disposable pads and tampons. There’s an earlier session for Years 3 & 4 about the whole pregnancy and foetal development thing which is on at the same … Continue reading Fun with sex ed

Declutter of the day

The other half of the cupboards under the stove top, mostly Tupperware and Corning Ware, and the Christmas dinner service tucked away in the corner cupboard down beside the dishwasher. I pulled pretty much everything out, matched lids with containers and put it all back again. What I really should do is cull, there are things in there, and in the other Tupperware cupboard, that I haven’t used in years Before After Also, my kitchen is even cleaner and tidier now than it was at the end of Saturday’s effort. So much so that when my Dad arrived for dinner … Continue reading Declutter of the day

Sundays in My City

Hosted by Unknown Mami After having just a little too much fun last night I woke this morning wanting nothing more than to curl up on the lounge and pretend I had no responsibilities for the day. But we had Plans and there was to be no wriggling out of them! We dropped David at a friend’s place for the day and off we went to the city to visit the Art Gallery. It’s amazing how much difference it makes to be one kid down, everything seemed so much easier, even when Tom decide the exhibition we’d gone to see … Continue reading Sundays in My City

Saturday should be for slumber

The only downside to having moved the computers behind a locked door is that the kids can no longer get up on a weekend morning, go online, and leave us undisturbed till mid to late morning. Both the boys visited us in our bedroom before 8am. Haven’t had to deal with that other than on birthdays for many years. And here we have another exciting adventure in the battle against the clutter monster. Actually, I’m not sure this counts as a clutter problem so much as an OMG! My kitchen has exploded! problem. Adam has been working on the clutter … Continue reading Saturday should be for slumber

Friday Fragments

Hosted by Mrs4444. Friday fragment flit and flutter around in one’s fogged up fancy, frustrating one’s faculties and forcing a foundering of fullfilling fought thought! Sorry. All that alliteration almost absconded with my ability to articulate accurately. Ahem. I’ll stop there and offload some of these pesky flittering fragments shall I? Don’t forget to visit other Friday Fragmenters via the blog hop links below! ***** Cystitis sucks. It’s also the reason there was no decluttering pics yesterday. I got home from canteen duty at the high school, went to the loo, thought “uh oh, that doesn’t feel good” and within the … Continue reading Friday Fragments

Quick hit: Church billboards make me sad.

I drove Caitlin to her ballet class this afternoon, on the way we pass one of the local churches and, as I find myself involuntarily doing every time, I read its notice board. Now, the things written on this notice board are often inane and sometimes illogical* but this one strikes me as being actually offensive. “God allows what he hates to achieve what he loves.” I beg your pardon? The end justifies the means? All the suffering and hatred and evil and misery in our world is justified by the supposed fact that some people will believe in and … Continue reading Quick hit: Church billboards make me sad.

How to make door-knocking God-botherers run away.

Answer the door in your pjs and dressing gown with your hair doing its best Shepherd Book “Too much hair!” impression.  Shepherd Book in the Firely episode Jaynestown. They barely managed to hang around long enough to say “Home Bible study…?” before they bolted next door. I didn’t even find out which variety they were! I’ve started on the lounge room, I figure one corner at a time is the way to go. I’ll try not to end up after the 4th corner with one huge pile of crap in the middle. That would be bad because then we wouldn’t … Continue reading How to make door-knocking God-botherers run away.
